Newport Beach, CA (I-Newswire) January 23, 2013 - Angel Light Academy is honoring community service members, from police and fire departments, at their annual golf tournament on Saturday, January 26 at The Links at Summerly Golf Course in Lake Elsinore. Although the golf tournament is in its 8th year, the January 26 event will be the first of its kind with the “Boots vs. Badges” format. The format is quickly gaining popularity with cities stretching from Palm Springs to Hollywood and Newport Beach to Carlsbad who have chosen to participate. This event is a chance for each community to honor their law enforcement and fire fighters all while helping a worthy cause. It is the vision of Angel Light Academy for this event to become an annual challenge allowing fire fighters to face off against police officers to see who has the best team. This year’s winning team, will receive a perpetual trophy that is exchanged between the winning team each year.

According to Chairwoman Rachel Cherrison “As a service-oriented non-profit organization it was important to us to honor service members from police, fire, retired service and military who consistently go above and beyond in their communities. The money raised benefits our Leadership Training Institute which teaches leadership, problem solving, communication and conflict resolution to youth and adults through multiple service venues all around Southern California”. The golf tournament includes raffle prizes, box lunch, games, silent/live auction, Hole in One and putting contests and more.

Each community has been offered the chance to submit items for the goody bags of their player representing that city. This prizes range from fresh baked cookies, to one hour massage certificates. If cities are unable to participate this year, please contact the charity to get on the sign-up sheet for next year. And, sponsorships and donations are being accepted for this year’s event until 1/25/13.
