AFSO "Symphonic Fiesta" Concert

Ars Flores Orchestra Concert in South Florida, featuring famous overtures and vocal numbers of Zarzuelas and Spanish music, with singers from Sociedad Pro-Arte Grateli, a performance group dedicated to preserving Hispanic-American traditions.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL (I-Newswire) February 15, 2013 - Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra Celebrates The Zarzuela!

Ars Flores is announcing its upcoming concert, “Symphonic Fiesta.” This concert, honoring South Florida’s ties to Cuba and Spain, presents selections from famous Zarzuelas written by composers such as Cuban-born, Ernesto Lecuona and Argentinian, Alberto Ginastera. Featuring singers from the Sociedad Pro-Arte Grateli, a local non-profit support group, dedicated to preserving, promoting, and heightening the awareness of Hispanic-American traditions, this concert combines famous overtures and vocal numbers for a varied program.

As a mentoring orchestra with the mission of “developing tomorrow's music professionals through mentoring and performance, while fostering community interest in the arts,” Ars Flores strives to create programs that interest the public, reflect the varied cultures of the South Florida area, and educate its Fellows in traditional, as well as multicultural and non-traditional styles of music. AFSO has created this program to celebrate the culture of South Florida with music of Spanish and Cuban Zarzuelas, while supporting the education of young musicians.

AFSO is offering 50% off tickets for these concerts if Promo Code “FIESTA” is mentioned

To increase community enrichment, AFSO has also created the "Music for Munchkins" concert series. These concerts take place earlier in the day on concert days and are free 30-minute programs for young children and families. They are followed by a reception with juice and donut holes.

About Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra

Ars Flores Mission Statement:

Developing tomorrow's music professionals through mento   More..ring and performance, while fostering community interest in the arts.

Ars Flores Statement of Purpose:

The Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra is a unique South Florida orchestra of professional, conservatory and gifted secondary school students, rehearsing and performing side-by-side.

As role models, the professionals demonstrate high quality musical performance and model professional behavioral standards for students.

The orchestra program includes a wide variety of challenging repertoire, including world premieres of new music. An annual concerto competition provides high school students as well as university- and conservatory-level musicians, of any instrument, the opportunity to perform with the orchestra. These concerts, in addition to others presenting respected guest artists, also afford orchestra members a chance to develop skills and insights necessary for accompanying soloists.

The orchestra strives to embrace members of the audience who may have little occasion to interact with the classics. Speaking from the podium during pre-concert lectures followed by a question/answer period, and inviting the audience to interact with musicians following performances, are practices which make the classics more understandable and thus approachable. At Music for Munchkins concerts the children are encouraged to ask questions and to interact with the conductor even during performances.

Public master classes, conducted by guest artists, are offered to South Florida student musicians and observers.

Ars Flores joins with humanitarian organizations in collaborative performances which raise funds for charitable purposes.

Ars Flores welcomes collaboration with other musical and nonmusical entities, relishing the opportunity to nurture an appreciation and enjoyment of a variety of musical genres in young musicians and audiences alike.Less..
