AAE Develops Hopper Loaders For Plastics That Blend On The Machine
Hopper loaders that blend on the machine throat insure a good blend of color and regrind. Eliminating difficult color problems and process issues relating to clumps of regrind. Injection molders show improved processing after blending on the press.
Cobbs Creek, VA (I-Newswire) October 10, 2013 - A homogenous material mix is critical to todays advanced injection molding. Advances in color pigments resulting in reduced color ratios demands good mixing. Advances in mold design and machine performance require a good mix of regrind to meet demanding processing specifications.
It is not unusual to run colors as low as one percent. That was unheard of only a few years ago. Low color ratios make running difficult colors virtually impossible without a good mix. Running tinted colors like pink and yellow add even greater challenges. Most blenders made today cannot insure a good blend when running low color percentages. They have large mixing chambers that allow color to separate or drop below the chamber without mixing. The material boxes are large with flow patterns that cause the material to separate. Finally the color can separate when conveying and entering a hopper loader.
Today's high speed hot runner mold require a good mix of regrind to avoid short shots and flash. Many customers report that adding on the machine blending show immediate improvement of their process. Traditional loaders layer regrind into a layer of regrind and a layer of virgin during each loading cycle. These layers can flow through the melting process resulting in viscosity variations in the mold manifold.
CA series loaders from AAE load only a few shots at a time and then blend the material in the sight glass on the machine throat. This eliminates color shift due to separation in conveying or in a blender. CA Series loaders also proportion regrind and blend on the machine throat.
