The protagonist, Lindy Sutton is a woman who's been drawn into helping solve a mystery. She has absolutely no idea how to go about it. So she pulls in her best friend and her sister to help, as well as an elderly gay gentleman, named Chappy, who lives at the retirement home where the victim worked. They're all just ordinary people, bumbling along asking questions and getting into trouble in the process.
"Dying for Sex is not pithy, it's entertainment," says Albrecht. "It was fun to write and I wanted it to be fun to read. I know I've achieved my goal, when people tell me they laughed out loud throughout the book."
When Albrecht started writing Dying for Sex at age fifty-four, she figured she knew about quite a few things. She'd had some career changes, a couple of kids, a failed marriage, fallen in love again, and watched her formerly toned youthful body morph into something she barely recognized. She works with the elderly as a social worker and realized that as we age, the twenty-year old voice inside is still there despite what's happening on the outside. However, she hastens to add, that she didn't know anything about the swinger lifestyle that she included in the plot. That required a lot of on-line research.
