South Korea’s prestigious Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, has awarded their coveted Kukkiwon Black Belt to Earl Reginald Stevenson

Seoul (I-Newswire) February 19, 2013 - South Korea’s prestigious Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, has awarded their coveted Kukkiwon Black Belt to Earl Reginald Stevenson. Stevenson was awarded their 4th Dan Black Belt.

Kukkiwon, also known as World Taekwondo Headquarters, and home of the World Taekwondo Academy, is the official taekwondo governing organization established by the South Korean government. It is supervised by the International Sports Division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Kukkiwon is the centre of taekwondo instructor education, being the home of the World Taekwondo Academy, and issues official instructor and dan (black belt) and poom (junior black belt, for practitioners under 15 years of age) certifications.The organisation's main aims are:

"Help people to develop their spiritual and physical strength by spreading our cultural asset, Taekwondo."

"Introducing Taekwondo's philosophy and skills in order to enhance the national prestige abroad."

Stevenson is a commissioned Colonel and life member of Mensa. He is also a close friend of actor Johnny Depp and a direct descendant of John Stevenson, one of the first settlers at Jamestown, Virginia. Stevenson was recently nominated by legendary British rock icon Sir Cliff Richard for The Order of the British Empire to be bestowed by Her Majesty, The Queen. Stevenson is also a well-known friend of the late David Carradine, Jan-Michael Vincent, and former FEMA Director and Undersecretary of Homeland Security Michael D. Brown. Stevenson also holds a coveted Kukkiwon 4th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo.
