Brandon, Vermont (I-Newswire) February 7, 2013 - The Survivor Insight Series recently published a fascinating interview with Rachele Baker about her new book Eighteen Months To Live. The book contains the journal entries and letters written by Midge Rylander in her final months of life. Midge's daughter, Rachele Baker, wrote the prologue, epilogue, and narration of the book.
Part 1 of the author interview tells the story of author Rachele Baker finding her mother's handwritten journal in a box of memorabilia about twenty years after her mother's death and realizing that her mother wanted her journal published so that her experiences could help and inspire others.
Part 2 of the author interview contains poignant quotes by Midge Rylander from the book which are then discussed with the author Rachele Baker. The quotes by Midge Rylander show her strength of spirit.
Here is an excerpt from Part 2 of the author interview:
""Now I am getting stronger, taking fewer naps, having more energy, and I am depressed at how little I can do before getting all 'tuckered out' and also to be dependent upon others to do so many things for me. This is a good lesson, a real learning experience for a heretofore very independent woman.
Tears come unexpectedly." -Midge Rylander in Eighteen Months To Live.
Ben: As I read through your book, I found your mother to be very strong willed and perserverant. She always was willing to learn from what life dealt her. I was humbled when she wrote "Tears come unexpectedly."
Rachele: My mother was a very strong person. I never saw her cry. Her journal showed me a very vulnerable and soft side of her that she kept very private."
