Farmington, CT (I-Newswire) December 12, 2012 - KBE Building Corporation (KBE) (www.kbebuilding.com) has won a Connecticut Construction Industries Association (CCIA) Community Service Award for its work on the Jennifer L. Hawke-Petit Health Lodge at the WFSB Channel 3’s Kids Camp in Andover, CT.
The Health Lodge was completed in June of 2012 as part of KBE’s 50 Ways to Make a Difference, an annual community outreach initiative launched in 2009 to celebrate KBE’s 50th year in business. KBE provided both a financial donation and construction management services to support the project, which included a complete renovation of the existing 1,000 square-foot, single-story wood building that served as an infirmary and nurses’ station for the summer camp. The renovation incorporated new finishes, heating and electrical systems, new roof, and exterior siding.
The firm also engaged a select group of trade contractors who donated their time and a portion of the construction costs to the project. The project costs were also underwritten in part by a grant from the Petit Family Foundation.
KBE’s 50 Ways to Make a Difference initiative formalizes the construction company’s 50+ year legacy of charitable giving, and focused in 2012 on providing support for children. The annual program is funded by significant corporate donations as well as donations and volunteer time contributed by KBE’s 120+ employees.
“We are very proud to receive this distinguished award,” said Mike Kolakowski, President and CEO of KBE Building Corporation. “We created 50 Ways to Make a Difference as a way to better serve the community through outreach programs, and we are extremely honored to be recognized for our efforts. More importantly, we’re happy that children in need have a safe and secure health lodge during their time at camp.”
The Community Service Award was presented on December 5, 2012 at CCIA’s Holiday Reception and Annual Membership Meeting at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Connecticut.
