OIC Books Sponsors Paris Writers' Workshop

OIC Books announces its sponsorship of the Paris Writers’ Workshop taking place from June 24-29 in Paris, France. Both OIC and PWW seek to foster and celebrate writers offering diverse voices and unique views.

California (I-Newswire) June 16, 2012 - OIC Books, a California publisher, will sponsor the 22nd Paris Writers’ Workshop, taking place from June 24-29, 2012, at the American University of Paris. The Paris Writers’ Workshop has established an international reputation for excellence and for creating a supportive community that respects diverse voices. Sponsorship was a natural fit for OIC Books since, as a new publishing venture, it likewise celebrates diverse perspectives and seeks to provide new views into the world.

The workshop is widely recognized as one of the most respected and creative writing workshops of its kind. During the weeklong workshop, writers have the opportunity to hone their craft, examine current literary trends, and receive guidance on getting their work published. Both new and established writers attending receive top-level instruction in master classes taught by well-known, published Writers-in-Residence. The event is organized by WICE, an Anglophone association that provides cultural, educational, and social activities to the English-speaking community of Paris.

OIC Books’ decision to sponsor the workshop stemmed from the shared desire to help writers with unique and diverse perspectives find their voice. Though based in California, OIC Books also carries a certain affinity for Paris and France, which provided the backdrop for the company’s inaugural title, Dog Trots Globe—To Paris & Provence. Author Sheron Long transports readers right into French life and culture through 150 vivid photographs and lively, informative text that recounts a trip to France with her 9-year-old Sheltie.

Dog Trots Globe is available in hardcover from OIC Books and as a standard and enhanced ebook from major retailers, such as Amazon, Google, Barnes & Noble, and the Apple iBookstore. The enhanced ebook for iPad includes music and four videos that are available online for readers of the hardcover or standard ebook editions.
