Historically, setup boxes have proven to be expensive for companies to use to package their products for a number of reasons. Some manufacturers feel that setup boxes can be cost-prohibitive because they are typically made of a heavier, making them labor intensive to manufacture thicker chipboard that is more expensive as a raw material. In addition setup boxes are produced as finished products and are therefore shipped fully assembled, but empty to manufacturers. Manufacturers find that they are paying to “ship air” in these empty boxes.
