2013 Will Be A Big Year For Domestic Company, Chevrolet

GM's flagship company, Chevrolet will be rolling out several new redesigns in 2013 with high hopes of capturing the younger market's attention.

Las Vegas, NV (I-Newswire) October 11, 2012 - The upcoming year looks like it’s going to be an important for Chevrolet’s new product lines. Executives for the flagship brand of General Motors recently announced that it is set to introduce 13 completely redesigned and re-imagined vehicles for 2013.

GM spokesman, Michael Albano announced, “You know some of them. There's a lot of chatter about others and a couple will be complete surprises, which we're thrilled about”, at a briefing at he Detroit Renaissance Center.

In 2013, Chevrolet will begin selling the newly redone Chevrolet Silverado full size pickup truck, as well as a redesigned full size sedan, the Chevrolet Impala. Other models to roll out in 2013 include a new Suburban, a diesel version of the Cruze, and electric version of the Spark, the Tahoe, and a new crossover called the Traverse.

While Albano made no remarks about a redesigned Corvette, a reintroduction of the much beloved sports car is widely rumored to make it’s debut in showrooms next year.

GM is placing a lot of stock in the redesigned 2014 Impala, which was showcased at a New York Auto Show. The six-cylinder version of the Impala is scheduled to go on sale in the first quarter and the full rollout will take place soon following.

GM is fighting for young buyers and trying to reposition its product portfolio to meet new and aggressive federal fuel economy standards.

According to Chevrolet’s director of Marketing, Cristi Landy, the average age of Chevrolet buyers has been steadily falling since the Chevrolet began replacing the Cobalt compact car with the Cruze and the Aveo with the Sonic. According to Landy, 30% of Sonic buyers are under the age of 35, and 60% of all Sonic buyers trade in a non-GM manufactured vehicle.
