$10,000 Rewards Paid To Those Who Expose Charity & NGO Scams By The China Trade Commission

Beijing (I-Newswire) August 19, 2011 - Today CTC Public Affairs Director Paul Zhang announced that the Board of Directors has authorized funds to pay whistleblowers who provide information and evidence needed to expose and prosecute operators of bogus charities and NGOs in China, America, Canada, Australia, and the U.K. a $10,000USD cash reward.

"We applaud the recent efforts of the China Charity Federation in cracking down on Suntech, and we want to help them find and terminate even more such frauds" explained Zhang. The CTC will therefore pay informants $10,000 USD on a strictly confidential basis if the information and evidence they provide leads to a prosecution and conviction of any person operating a charity scam. The CTC will protect the identity of all informants and exchange their name for an informant number. Information provided will be verified by CTC investigators, and if there is merit to their claims, forward the information to Interpol, Scotland Yard, the FBI, FTC, SAIC, and China Charity Federation as well as issue a Global Fraud Alert on line - without ever revealing the informant's identity.

Those with information or even suspicions about a fraudulent charity or NGO should send their information in confidence to CharityFraud[at]ChinaTradeCommission.org and a CTC due diligence specialist or investigator will follow-up withn 72 hours.

"There are many worthy charities around the world who lose support only because of a few rotten apples who scare donors away from contributing to any cause, and we want to at least be able to identify and certify those that are honest and legitimate" explained Zhang.

According to a recent CTC investigation, over $3Billion USD a year is lost in donation to charitable frauds in China alone. In America where the 401-C charities are better policed and regulated, the loss is less than half. The CTC is now visiting and certifying all registered charities and issuing certifcates of legitimacy to those who genuinely help the needy. According to international and CTC standards, a charity and/or NGO is deemed to be legitimate if at least 60% of donated funds directly benefit the needy with tangible and verifiable benfits. The CTC only certified charities who meet or exceed these standards.
